The Final Steps of the Capricorn Generation
In Evolutionary Astrology, we look at Pluto as a signifier of a generation within human history. Since 2008, Pluto has been in the sign of Capricorn. During this time, we have seen a transmutation of how we view psychological conditioning, established institutions and even how responsibility and authority work in our everyday life. There has been a murmur that has been working within our individual emotional bodies that has begun, for the first time, to observe how we limit ourselves and how the world has limited us. This is the first bells of a new generation at a precipice of emerging.
After midday on January 21 (AEST) 2024, Pluto will enter Aquarius and form a conjunction to the Sun. After this event, Pluto will remain in Aquarius, until it goes into retrograde, marking the final stretch of the Capricorn generation from September 2 till November 20, 2024. After this date, Pluto will remain in Aquarius until 2043.
The very edges of our solar system is guarded by Pluto. It signifies the edges of our understanding and awareness. Pluto is the archetype of our attachment to what we know and understand, as well as our desire to know beyond that. This whole time that we have been under the influence of Capricorn, we have had to face some very harsh truths about the brittle system we currently have in place, and our very own place in it. Our responsibility, in time, will move from upholding a system, to working together to build a new one.
Yes, our schools, government, hospitals and laws have been helpful in building a society. But all of us, are in silent agreement, that they can be better. As we move towards a fixed archetype, as Aquarius, we will bear witness to a small but steady avalanche of rebellion.
When we do not accept something, there must be an innovation for something to take its place. If change is truly to occur, there must be a willingness to enter a process of experimentation.
You should be able to find the answer these questions: Am I free to question my own reality? Do I have necessary support for experimentation and innovation in my life? There may already be a realization budding within you, that you cannot do this alone. That Sun conjunction may be lighting up a truth inside your heart, a truth that also exists in others. This is a time to find your own community, that aids individual progress and nothing else.
As the final steps of Pluto in Capricorn occur during the second half of 2024, there will be a building pressure on our existing attachments. If after observation, they prove incapable of further evolution, these final steps of energetic pressure will destroy, if moving on is denied. The shadow of Capricorn can be very set in its attachment to physical achievements. If your worth exists outside of yourself, or if it has imprisoned you in place, rather than push you forward, then you may very well be left behind in a spinning world of new technology and ideologies which eventually will filter into the new age of Aquarius.
However, for a lot of us, the process of individuation, understanding personal freedom and likeminded community could be a truly creative endeavor. It will usher in a time of collaboration, revolutionary innovation and manifestations of authentic humanitarian truths.
